The Virtual Rifle Systems barrels are purely aesthetic and are designed to really sell the look and feel of a modern rifle.  Although they do not add to the function of the VRS rifle, there is little doubt that they lend to the emersion even before you have the headset on. 

The custom barrels are approximately 10.5" long. 0.7" in diameter, and weigh roughly 1.2 oz.
